Re-Joyce- Light and Darkness
~Excerpts from a letter I wrote to my friend Joyce, April 7th 1990
We cannot be afraid or ashamed to share our testimony! I have a new understanding of the power of the word of Our Testimony! We’ve got to stay in the light of Jesus, walk in The Light, live in The Light and speak The Word in The Light. If we live in God’s Presence darkness cannot enter in. Praise God, the only way darkness can come in is if The Light goes out. The only way the Light can go out is if there is a Power outage. The only way there can be a Power outage is if we allow it to happen.
Praise God at midnight The darkest hour of the night Paul and Silas kindled a flame. When they prayed and sang praises to God they brought the Light into the darkness and It was bright enough that the other prisoners heard it.
Sometimes we become so overwhelmed by everyday life that we forget what we knew in The Light! John The Baptist when he was in prison sent his disciples to Jesus to ask, “are You the One or should we search for another?” He forgot what he knew in the Light! His circumstance in a dark hour caused doubt and probably fear to enter in.
John Baptized Jesus! John saw The Holy Spirit descend on Jesus! John heard God’s Voice say “This is My Beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased.”! In the darkness of his prison John experienced a Power outage.
The two on the road to Emmaus had a Power outage! They were so distraught over what happened to Jesus and that His Body was missing they forgot what they knew in The Light.
Jesus called them fools because they were slow in their Faith. They let doubt enter in and their doubt caused their Light to dim. Jesus had Mercy on them. He went home with them and continued to reveal Himself as The Bread of Life. I think the revelation was astounding! Then they recalled the anointing they felt when He was walking with them on the road.
Luke 24:32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
1John 1:5-7 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
When darkness overcomes us we can’t see what’s in the Light! What does darkness symbolize? Sin, sickness, depression, oppression, among many others. These are the darkness in our lives which blind us from The Light of Jesus.
13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light [of God’s precepts], for it is light that makes everything visible. 14 For this reason He says, “Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine [as dawn] upon you and give you light.” Ephesians 5:13-14 Amplified Bible
